I have DP301 Yes there's one way to tell without a programmer. You might want to hook up the receiver to the TV, but NOT hook up the dish. Insert the card and then pull it out and wait a few seconds. A system info screen will display on the TV. Read the Rev number after the Cam id info. If the rom 10 is LOWER than revA20: YES it's OPEN. If revA20: depends. Silent update came down sometime in September or Oct 2003. If the card was not exposed to the data stream before September 2003 (to be sure, Oct is the borderline), you can tell it's most likely OPEN. After that date, mostly likely CLOSED.
