3 Weeks - what a milestone

Mili has really soured me on Slinger. He always calls anyone who doesn't like his device, "fools" or worse. Now I wouldn't buy a Slinger from anyone, and especially not from this guy!!!!!!

The week before that I was fine tuning router set up and different receivers, so the freezing I was getting prior to that could have been on my end. For now, the slinger is working as good as mili claims. There will be lots of guys denying that these days. But most of those denials come from someone who doesn't even own one. They're getting their info from the small proportion of users posting that they are having issues.

Peeps are getting DAMN tired of buying mili's

"latest/greatest/freeze free/super fast/super duper"

products that are marketed on promises and aspirations that NEVER materialize. The continued broken promises of "we will release the source code" and "DTV is going to be supported in the future" (just to name a few) are wearing thin on a lot of past customers. Not to mention how product support quickly vanishes and the user is left with a dead >$100 product. Simple equation, sales slow = support drops. Hence why the bad attitudes and "professional mili bashers".

Yeah yeah yeah, you MIGHT 8-10 months of TV, (if you can stand the blackouts/freezes/waiting for new software) out of the product but lets face it, your devices die LONG before stream changes necessitate new and improved hardware.

The conflict b/t the past, disgruntled customers and mili plays itself out on this board b/c Mili or one of his comrades, (assuming they aren't the same person) can't filter/ban or remove posts/users to paint a pretty picture of the real convoluted reality.

You miss the point about the problem with mili...The problem isnt the product.

The problem is with mili as the salesman.

If he was just a sponsor and posted how tos about his product all would be good.

Well, I am getting a slinger and from I have heard they do work just fine. Not getting it from Mili since there is better pricing out there. Would prefer to use my PVR's than having to deal with the fta disappointments of the past (Never actually used an fta myself but followed all the peeps disappointments posted). Gonna keep my fingers crossed and hope it works as good as reported. Also IKS does freeze also. Been watching the kbox as well as Nfusion last couple of days with small freezes here and there but its not a big issue that I would not want to buy one.

It always amazes me how many people come into a forum to complain about a product they don't even own - that is one of the major problems with public forums... they allow members of the public in to post stupid bs they saw posted somewhere else.

There is no way to determine how many posters actually purchased a slinger and there is no way to limit postings to those that have a true experience to report. Something you saw or heard somewhere else is not a true experience... its worthless third party information and many times totally false.

I hate to be the one to defend Mili but as I have been around this industry for a lot longer than Mili I will because Mili didn't just pop up a couple weeks ago to sell dongles. He didn't just pop up a couple months ago or even a couple years ago... Mili has been around a long long time and over the years a ton of people have bought products from him and were happy with them including me.

I also purchased products from him I wasn't so happy with and so have other folks. In fact a lot of folks have bought stuff they weren't happy with from a lot of different places... these things happen.

Right now Mili is pushing slingers because its ONE of the IKS products currently out on the market that is working - you are NOT required to buy it... its up to you and you have other products that also do IKS to choose from.

All of them have some freezing problems and they always will so if this is a problem for you then it would be a good idea not to buy any of them because you will have some freezing problems so if this is a concern don't buy the product and move on.

Do the slingers freeze more or less than the other IKS products? This is where you run into a problem because only an actual purchaser who is using the product knows the answer to this question and it will be different for each person. And the fact that you see tons of messages all over the place saying there is a lot of freezing really doesn't tell you too much useful information... it just suggests you should look around and get all the necessary information you can and then you must make your own choice.

When you see 50 messages saying there's a problem with a 'lot' of freezing what does this tell you?
It freezes a couple times an hour?
It freezes five or six times and hour?
It freezes 55 minutes out of 60 minutes?
Has this same person posted the same message on 20 different sites?
Is the poster a dealer selling another product?
Is this poster completely braindead and should never have purchased the product?
How many people purchased the exact same product and don't have any freezing?

The last question is the only one that counts and this is the question nobody can tell you the answer.

If Mili and all the other sellers have sold a total of 100 slingers and 50 people are having trouble with them its safe to say there may be a problem. If they have sold 10,000 slingers and you only see a handful of messages complaining about freezing its not the slinger that is a fault.

And let's tell the truth here... of all the IKS solutions the slinger is by far the most complicated of these and it requires the purchaser to know stuff and do stuff... probably 99% of the public should not even consider the slinger but that fact won't stop anyone from buying the thing. It also doesn't stop those buyers from going online and complaing about them because they may have figured out how to connect to the internet. And they will never admit they don't know how to operate a car door - all they will do is complain their product doesn't work.

So, when you read these messages all over the place complaining that a particular product doesn't live up to its specifications... you need to dig a lot deeper before jumping on the 'it doesn't work' bandwagon just to have some bs to post.

IKS is a really odd product. It only works because we all now have internet access. In order for it to function at all the subscription data must be obtained 'live' in North America and transmitted to a remote server site (probably mainland China) and get back to your IKS device 'fresh' every 10 seconds or so. This is quite an undertaking and for the most part it seems to be working for most people who are using it.

Common sense says we are talking about at the very least a 100,000 IKS devices now in use and you don't see the volumes of traffic in the various web sites that would be there if EVERYONE was having trouble. What you see is a FEW folks who are having trouble and this is to be expected and should be expected - all the IKS peeps who are happily watching tv thinking how wonderful their $200. investment in IKS technology paid off are NOT in here complaining about it... they are watching tv.

Remember when the keys rolled on a regular basis and every site on the planet filled up with folks poring in to get the new keys? And all evening many of those same guys cam back over and over saying "are these the right keys", "these keys don't work", "can somebody check the keys - the keys don't work"? Remember those days? It always amazes me how many people come into a forum to complain about a product they don't even own - that is one of the major problems with public forums... they allow members of the public in to post stupid bs they saw posted somewhere else.

There is no way to determine how many posters actually purchased a slinger and there is no way to limit postings to those that have a true experience to report. Something you saw or heard somewhere else is not a true experience... its worthless third party information and many times totally false.

I hate to be the one to defend Mili but as I have been around this industry for a lot longer than Mili I will because Mili didn't just pop up a couple weeks ago to sell dongles. He didn't just pop up a couple months ago or even a couple years ago... Mili has been around a long long time and over the years a ton of people have bought products from him and were happy with them including me.

I also purchased products from him I wasn't so happy with and so have other folks. In fact a lot of folks have bought stuff they weren't happy with from a lot of different places... these things happen.

Right now Mili is pushing slingers because its ONE of the IKS products currently out on the market that is working - you are NOT required to buy it... its up to you and you have other products that also do IKS to choose from.

All of them have some freezing problems and they always will so if this is a problem for you then it would be a good idea not to buy any of them because you will have some freezing problems so if this is a concern don't buy the product and move on.

Do the slingers freeze more or less than the other IKS products? This is where you run into a problem because only an actual purchaser who is using the product knows the answer to this question and it will be different for each person. And the fact that you see tons of messages all over the place saying there is a lot of freezing really doesn't tell you too much useful information... it just suggests you should look around and get all the necessary information you can and then you must make your own choice.

When you see 50 messages saying there's a problem with a 'lot' of freezing what does this tell you?
It freezes a couple times an hour?
It freezes five or six times and hour?
It freezes 55 minutes out of 60 minutes?
Has this same person posted the same message on 20 different sites?
Is the poster a dealer selling another product?
Is this poster completely braindead and should never have purchased the product?
How many people purchased the exact same product and don't have any freezing?

The last question is the only one that counts and this is the question nobody can tell you the answer.

If Mili and all the other sellers have sold a total of 100 slingers and 50 people are having trouble with them its safe to say there may be a problem. If they have sold 10,000 slingers and you only see a handful of messages complaining about freezing its not the slinger that is a fault.

And let's tell the truth here... of all the IKS solutions the slinger is by far the most complicated of these and it requires the purchaser to know stuff and do stuff... probably 99% of the public should not even consider the slinger but that fact won't stop anyone from buying the thing. It also doesn't stop those buyers from going online and complaing about them because they may have figured out how to connect to the internet. And they will never admit they don't know how to operate a car door - all they will do is complain their product doesn't work.

So, when you read these messages all over the place complaining that a particular product doesn't live up to its specifications... you need to dig a lot deeper before jumping on the 'it doesn't work' bandwagon just to have some bs to post.

IKS is a really odd product. It only works because we all now have internet access. In order for it to function at all the subscription data must be obtained 'live' in North America and transmitted to a remote server site (probably mainland China) and get back to your IKS device 'fresh' every 10 seconds or so. This is quite an undertaking and for the most part it seems to be working for most people who are using it.

Common sense says we are talking about at the very least a 100,000 IKS devices now in use and you don't see the volumes of traffic in the various web sites that would be there if EVERYONE was having trouble. What you see is a FEW folks who are having trouble and this is to be expected and should be expected - all the IKS peeps who are happily watching tv thinking how wonderful their $200. investment in IKS technology paid off are NOT in here complaining about it... they are watching tv.

Remember when the keys rolled on a regular basis and every site on the planet filled up with folks poring in to get the new keys? And all evening many of those same guys cam back over and over saying "are these the right keys", "these keys don't work", "can somebody check the keys - the keys don't work"? Remember those days? Now some of those same folks have IKS so nobody should be too surprised they can't get it to work.

Actually, while it has been pretty much freeze free the majority of time, it is just like any other iks device. No matter what they tell you, there are not any that are freeze free. Heck, even dish subs freeze up ever now and then.

Sure, but imo peeps who have the ihub have a lot less to worry than those with the slinger. Slinger only works with dish receivers(mili even stated this in this thread). Sonicview could possibly convince a judge of the ihub legit status. How is anyone going to convince judge that the slinger are not an illegal device to steal dish signals?

What legit feature does the ihub have as of this date? The ihub had some great features posted on the website. Name one you can do. Only thing I can think of is, using it as an iks dongle .Right now the slinger and ihub serve the same purpose. Try to convince a judge of the ihub being legit. I would love to hear that arguement.

So most likely whover broke in was kind enough to send the CAM ID/Receiver ID and email address list to d*shnet and had them turned off and indeed the letters originated from them. There is no customer data at all that was compromised only email addresses. This sucks ass indeed. Let me catch up on this and will post as soon as I got more info. I didn't say it wasn't encrypted. I said it couldn't be stored encrypted. They are just like all other non PPV channels. In effect, every receiver is subscribed to them. No need to get special authorization. If the receiver is tuned to VOD it must be able to decode the video in order to store it on the hard drive. Otherwise there would be no VOD, just regular PPV.

I have both Slinger and nFusion. I can honestly say that there is no such thing as a freeze-free Slinger, unless you're watching the NASA channel. During a 30 minute TV show, I can expect atleast a brief freeze every couple minutes.

As for the nFusion, well their idea of PVR sucks, but I have to say it just works and there's hardly any freezing. Almost freeze-free as in maybe an occasional glitch every other day. Much better IMO.

So if my nFusion runs without freezing, yet my Slinger freezes regularly, do we blame my setup or the device? You decide. ;)

I have both Slinger and nFusion. I can honestly say that there is no such thing as a freeze-free Slinger, unless you're watching the NASA channel. During a 30 minute TV show, I can expect atleast a brief freeze every couple minutes.

I've never gotten any PPV events. It depends on the subscription tho. We get everything the sub gets except for locals since they're spot beamed.

If I remember well, the only PPV ( if i can call it this way ) is the VOD channels, but you have to have a PVR receiver. Works the same way on private set ups too.
