I apologize if this question has been asked before but a search was unsucessful. I access the internet with an AT&T USB Laptop Connect device and a laptop running Vista. Does anyone know how I could utilize this setup and a IKS device (Slinger, IBOX, KBOX, or Nfusion). Do I need a router/cables and if so, what is recommended. DSL is not available where I live and I only want to test one TV. Thanks for any suggestions.

Ouch, you need some type of bridge. I think you may be able to bridge the usb wifi with an ethernet cable and send it to a router through your ethernet port. Then, use that router to send internet to your IKS box. In either case, your laptop has to be on and connected and wired to the router the entire time you are watching TV. Any router would do in your case since it will be wired. Even the $20 ones.

Thanks for the reply. As I understand you - I receive my Internet commands through my laptop connect card via the USB slot in my laptop. Then I run an ethernet cable from my laptop to a router and then to the IKS receiver which then sends a signal to the TV. I don;t understand why I need the router in the middle. I'm just hard headed.

Well because your IKS device needs an IP and DNS address. I don't believe your computer will act as a DHCP server and offer your IKS an IP. A router would.

OK, that makes sense about the router needing to send an IP address. Do I need null or straight cables to hook everything up?

Just patch cables for the ethernet. Do a google search for bridging internet connections to different ports for more info.
