I would like to jump in on this IKS "testing".

Question: I dont want to buy online, other wise I would get the slinger. Cant seem to find anyone in my area the sells it where I can pick up in person.

I do now of places where I can pick up the IKS FTA receivers, what is the recomended FTA IKS receiver you guys would recomend? Dont really care about HD or PVR at this point, although I am set up for HD.

Perhaps try checking out RQCS with an old AVR. It`s called Card Sharing, but you should use a Private Server with it.:beer:

Little testy today. Someone must have pissed in his prunes. I only know one place to walk in and buy a IKS and it is in Michigan.......

There was a person trying to sell one in the for sale section here while back look it up he went down on the unit if i wanted it but he didnt have many post and i asked him to send it to a mod and as soon as they received it i would pay him ......He said no but you can send him a money order if ya want .....I dont know this person but i bet he still has the unit ..........good luck....and not rtying to steal business from mili .........................SH

I do know of a place that I can walk in and buy a FTA IKS...... ie, nfusion, cnx..... etc. My main point was what do you guys recommend?

Im thinking just wait it out now. I dont really watch tv, but love to test and get it going. Since IKS is the only "testing" method availible, that why I was asking.

I do have a way of maksing my IP...... so I think?

I have yet to see any hard evidence that somebody got into civil or legal trouble for only running a receiver using IKS. This may or may not change.
They cannot bust everybody or every user.
IMO, attempts at masking your IP is garbage and may lead to other problems such as freezing if done incorrectly.
Personally, I do not care for any current IKS system, but I have nothing against those that do use IKS.
You decide. It is your money and your ass that is on the line. There is enough information on this site for you to make a decision.

I’m not asking for a decision to made for me on to do the IKS or not, just a recommendation on what receiver to test with. But thru this thread, I have decided against it. Thank you EB. Seems there is too much risk (even know it is not realized yet) to venture into this "test" method.

I was never a big fan of it anyway, just have a etch to “test” and work around. I will wait for the plastic, atmega, emulation, HU etc......... that is more discrete!

After all, I have been at it for 7 yrs now with no knock on the door!!!! Yes I’m an armature compared to some here, but have been carful thanks to this site!!

Let's turn back the clock a little say a year ago, asume you were watching "charlie" with your favorite brand of FTA receiver.
Everytime you changed a channel , would you grab a computer and post a message on your favorite forums , something like this:
" Hi my name is XXXXXX XXXXX i live at 1234 XXXXXst, CITY, and ZIP.
and i'm watching such channel at the moment using pirate equipment"

If you would've done it back then , then you got balls of steel and I say go for any IKS out there.
If on the other hand you wouldn't dare to post your real info everytime you change channel then stay away from IKS.
Because that what you'll be doin when you connect to the IKS server.

IKS is flaky as it is, through "good" proxies will be totally unwatchable.
And have you ever given any thought to who are these "GOOD people" running those proxies?
