Just wondering how many ppl here own a Slinger and what are their thoughts on it? We've heard mili swearing by it. I don't really recall anyone saying anything bad about it from first hand experience. From all accounts, it's always someone knowing someone else with a Slinger and not liking it.
For my preference, I'm mostly interested in PPV movies and PPV sports so it sounds like the Slinger is the best option right now because the iHubs don't offer that unless someone in the network orders/purchase a PPV.
On a side note, what is VOD and PVR?

Make sure you know the risks vs. the benefits...IMHO tv just isn't worth it.

IKS in any form can get you busted. It's a lot cheaper to get a sub and be done with it

VOD=Video On Demand. This is a feature PVR's have. PVR's are the receivers that have hard drives in them and let you record programming. Now, to be clear about what the slinger will and will not do regarding ppv's. The slinger only gets what is subbed to. That means it will get some of the ppv movies, but ONLY if you have a PVR. Non-pvr receivers DO NOT get ppv's or special events unless the original subs also purchase them. Mili should be more clear about this.
The biggest selling point for the slinger right now is it's basically the only game in town. Even when set up perfectly, there is still some freezing during peak times. Don't let anyone tell you any different. Most of the time it is freeze free and works pretty good. It also gets all but one porn channel.
In a nutshell, the slinger is very easy to set up. You may have to be able to do some receiver programming as well, but that is easy for most that have actually done something in this hobby other than FTA. The part I found challenging was the router configuration. To make the slinger work as good as it possibly can, you will have to learn your way around your router pretty well.

Did you read those documents? They just warn you not to be a FTA or IKS dealer, run a web site in the USA with fixes for FTA units to receive Dishnet and help people received Dishnet illegally with step by step instructions. Anyone who does that with any type of technology will eventually get busted.
From a user perspective that behaviour is as safe as having a FTA box or hacked plastic and calling Dishnet multiple times to arrange service calls becuase some of the Dish channels are fuzzy or froze now and then. The odds are that eventually you will get an honest installer; not one that sells you more pirate gear.
