Hey all,

I got a slinger up and running on Dish and want to remove the adult channels so they show up in red (got small kids around).

Tried writing a rom102 bin with adult tiers removed and no go. It used to work fine on plastic and atmega, but the adults still showing up in guide with slinger.

Any ideas?

You can lock adult channels by going to menu and apply password for them to be seen. What ird are you using?

I got a 301.010 and I know how to do it from the IRD menu, but the kids can figure out the pass or google the reset procedure for the pass. I just want to get the adult tiers out of there completely...thanks for any suggestions.

If mili has a site, and also promises " one to one support", how comes and those people have problems and unanswered questions? I understand he's a site supporter' but it looks ( at least to me) he's overtaking the site.
From some remarks on his posts I realize he has a lot (??) of friends.

no, I just asked a simple question about how to remove xxx tiers from bin. Never bought any hardware from mili before either. :no:

You have no idea what a 10 yr. old is capable of...the 4 digit pass on these IRDs can be bypassed by simply trying every combination btween 0000 - 9999...once they are out of school in the summer and with no parental supervision for most of the day (I got to work), you know they will be playing video games and tearing up the satellite system.

I just need to do it using tiers in the bin. Does anyone know how or should I try asking at another forum?

My kids have never guessed my password. And the reset procedure doesn't work with

I am available to my customers, so far 3 of them took the time to get on MSN with me. People post wherever they like, that is their prerogative. Rotten you are just what you are; Rotten to the core.

Just reset my buddies 301 yesterday and worked fine, I have been reading this for the last two years that it doesn't work and always still does.

I think there was an 'old' reset procedure where you simply looked up the password buried within the alpha/numerics in one of the menus. That no longer works if the firmware has been upgraded.

There is another method where you disconnect the power at one point in the process and the password resets to nothing. I forget exactly how it is done but I have a 'how to' stored in a file on another computer. This method worked within the last year when a friend of mine couldn't remember his password.

On another note, I would like to see a 10 year old get away with using this reset method because he would not be able to set the password to the exact one you were using so you would instantly know what he'd been up to. At that point some serious parental discipline could be applied.

Well I found the solution to my problem - there is no solution! It turns out that the tiers are coming from the slinger IKS server. So no matter what bin you load on your slinger, you still every available channels from the slinger IKS server.

To complicate matters further, more xxx channels have opened up in my guide lately and I didn't do a damn thing.

Anyhow, I have resolved the problem by locking away the receiver when I am not using it. The kids will just have to make do with basic cable. :yes:

So your kids have enough time and patience to go through 10,000 possible combinations. All of which the receiver kicks you out after 5 wrong attempts... I smell bullchit.


The easy answer is 0000 thru 9999, which is 10,000 combinations. A way to calculate this is by Nx
where N is the number of digits possible (here, 10 different digits are
possible) 0 through 9
and x is the number of places available (here we have 4 places available
for a 4 digit number)

meaning, 104

or 10 X 10 X 10 X 10 = 10, 000 combinations
