I just added a 8psk illuminati module to my receiver, however after a hr or so, it really heats up and I loose hd channels,

My question is, can I just mount some small computer fan either behind or above the unit to move some air around my cabinett? I imagine this problem would get even worse getting closer to summer tempuratures.

thxs for the help...

yes you can mount or aim a fan at the receiver to cool it down.

Try Radio Shack for a fan , they have 12& 110 volt fans. Mount on the side as there are vents on the back of the receiver, you can also add spacers under the receiver to get more air space under it. If you use a 12 volt fan ,you can get a plug-in converter to go from 110 volt to 12 volt, they are very small and cheap. I just put a switch in line to the fan and only use it when the receiver is on.

Hey thxs, that seems like a good idea, I will have a look later this afternoon for one at Radio Shack.

But maybe there is a better board that the illuninatti board, that remains cool or has additional heat sinks... does anyone know of any?
