I will try to give you a little help.

The Slinger is simple card sharing. So basicly you take a bunch of cards and you share them between some of your buddys ect, in Slingers case it would be spread out between the whole community.

The Slinger kit will provide everything you need to get your Slinger running, please note that you will need a modded IRD's & dish & in some case you may need a the D-link router as i have read that there has been reports of freezing.

The Slinger will provide you access to watch B3v tv along with Di$h, Please also note though that they are not wide open channels, as again all that the Slinger is doing is sharing some legit subbed cards (If i am incorrect on this please feel free to correct me.)

Now here is my opinion.

If you do not got $200 to go playing around with then please do not buy the card. However if you do have a few bucks to have fun with, i think it may be worth the price.

I have a Slinger myself, but have not used it myself yet.

oh and as far the VIP IRD's working I've yet to see proof of that seeing as no one has a VIP IRD using the public keyset
so until someone ponies up the coin to get the bga redone there's no proof to this claim

wattso99 if your ISP has connection issues and the packets don't reach you there is no help for you. Bypassing your router means what? What kind of an Internet connection and modem have you got?

This is a post by dssdumazz on CC

1. Type 192.168.0.1 in your browser and open the router configuration utility .
2. Click on the Status tab and write down all the info under the LAN header. Also, write down the DNS numbers under the WAN header. There are 8 sets of numbers, you just need the first 4 sets of numbers. Close router configuration utility.
3. Connect slinger to computer with usb cable, plug in slinger and open slinger loader software.
4. Click on Network Configuration tab, click the dropdown arrow in the LAN Configuration and select Static, then write. After written, select read and verify correct setting.
5. Enter a static IP address in the static IP configuration box that the router will not assign. To determine what to enter as a static IP address that won't conflict with a router assigned IP address, click on the Home tab in the router config utility, then click the DHCP button, you will see the ip range that the router will assign to a client. Mine is starting at 100 and ending at 199. So you want the static IP address entered in the first line of the static ip configuration to be something outside this 100-199 range. xxx.xxx.x.100 - xxx.xxx.x.199 ie.(192.168.0.8).
6. Enter the subnet that you wrote down from the router config utility, its listed as subnet mask in the router config utility.
7. Enter the Gateway IP address, it will be listed as IP Address in the router config utility.
8. Enter the gateway MAC, that is listed as MAC Address in the router config utility.
9. Enter your Primary DNS that you wrote down from the router config utility.
10. After all the static ip config info is correct, select write. After it finishes writing, click read and make sure the info you entered is correct.
11. Close slinger loader software, unplug slinger and disconnect.
12. Hook up slinger to internet and plug in. Light should be orange, then flash orange, then flash green, then solid green.
13. Slide in board, if everything is entered correctly, then viola, freeze free tv.

ZERO FREEZING - My Story
First things first- put your router aside for now. If you can’t get it to work straight through your modem first, you’ll be spinning your wheels configuring your router for eternity.
I have DSL and I pay for the highest BW tier. I don’t think it buys me much faster speeds (although my DSL screams) I do believe it gives me a free pass through the BW police monitor & throttler.
It took me about 4-5 hours to get mine running. Most of that time was spent reading not testing. You have to read every post out there. You might have to read 5 posts and 75 threads before you find the one sentence that solves your problem and gets you to the next step.
My steup: DSL modem, Dish, public (get public working first then experiment with private), Linksys WRT55AG wireless router, known good public 2700 IRD, SW 1.10.
Programming: Follow the Client Setup for auto LAN configuration, it works with one exception I will divulge later. My first attempt at programming left me with an orange light at power up when it should be red. Reading told me this was an indication that the unit had a programming glitch/configuration error. After a lot more reading, I discovered the trick is when configuring the GUI, exercise each drop down option before writing. By that I mean if the drop down is fruit selection and the window shows apples and you want apples don’t just leave the apples as default and write. Select the drop down and reselect apples then write.
There is A MAJOR ERROR in the instructions :
“ Finally, it will blink green and then go solid green when the server has successfully booted up.”
It will never go solid until it interfaces with the IRD. I wasted about an hour until I figured that out through more reading. Once it starts blinking green, insert the card into the IRD. If the gods are on your side, it will go solid green and video will appear. Mine does go green to orange constantly but the picture never freezes.
Now that it is working through the modem add your router. I can only repeat what everyone else is saying; You’re going to have to figure out how to configure your router not to block or filter the data to your device. Here’s what I had to do with my Linksys WRT55AG wireless:
Set the slinger for auto LAN and note the MAC address & port number
Configure the router to assign the slinger a fixed IP address based on the slinger MAC address
Add the router assigned slinger IP address to your DMZ
My router had a separate config screen that I could specify DMZ port numbers so I added the slinger port to this.
If you don’t understand the router setup, put your slinger aside and get up to speed on routers and home networking. If you don’t have the router concepts clear in your head you’ll never get the system working.
My system is working beautifully with zero freezing although the light does blink orange to solid green about every 3-5 seconds. I have been watching TV for 3 nights now and not once has there been any freezing. If yours isn’t working it is not the slinger system – word…………
A word to any newbies - this is a hobby for screwing with electronics & technology ( & da Man) not watching TV. Do the right thing and get a sub or Dish Now so you can enjoy this hobby and not get frustrated because it’s not working during your favorite show. Look into DISH Now, it’s a great companion to this hobby.
Next for me, set up my 40 foot telescoping antenna mast so I can get my locals back.

There are tons of support from their engineer, users of Slingers on card-coders.com and my forums and me. You can dismiss us like you can dismiss the problems in the USA. You can and then you will look like the fool you are.
