Hello everybody! i'm a newbie here, and i'm sorry if this question has been posted before. but i have searched the forums for my answer for several days and i have found several things to try, BUT they all lead to dead ends..here is my setup:
i have a Dreambox 500S with PLi Jade image.

i have DCC on my PC. when i look in /var/keys i find: irdeto (size 0kb) and SoftCam.key (size 0 kb) when i right click on either and goto edit there is NOTHING in the files at all..

i tried to manually transfer rqcamd-1.14-binaries.tar.gz but it's saying that my /var doesnt have enough free space:

i downloaded the file: rqcamd-1.14-binaries this is what my manual download screen says in setup on my DB 500:

installer version 1.37

requesting action 'upgrade'
for package var_rqcamd-1.14-binaries (any)

Free space in /var: 1272 kb

i have a channel list and it tells the show that's on and the time remaining, just picture is black...i'm on 119w using a single LNB direct tv 18" dish... as i've said i'm locked on the sat. and have all the channels, just no picture.

i can't for the life of me find where to enter in the keys! HELP PLEASE!!

ok first I would start with a clean image, install pli, scan your channels or load your saved channel list using db edit, then you want to download the RQCAMD 1.14 packages file, open using win rar you will find 2 mor win rar files inside open the one that says 1.14 packages inside that file will be 7 more files you need the file that says PLI MIPS this is the package for your box using DCC transfer that file to your temp directory then using your remote press the blue button go to software management, choose manual install and you should see RQCAM 1.14, highlight it , press ok, it should install turn too DN channel 200 (CNN) then wait a few minutes for it to roll and you should be good to go here is the link to the file.

hififry That's good advice but DB500S uses PPC not MIPS.

After FTP to the box, open the var folder, directory will be var/keys
right click on the rqcam keys and edit

ok guys as i've mentioned i'm a newbie with this FTA stuff..the last time i had anything like this was a yellow dish card that got zapped at least once a week it seems like... i did everything that hififry said to do..now in my /var/keys file has autoupdate.keys in it now. i'm also on sat 121w instead 119w.the weather sux here so i'm not fooling with the dish today but im locked and sync'd and the channel 300 which is the dish info channel is the only one that pops up. so i'm close, but still no other channels????

hififry That's good advice but DB500S uses PPC not MIPS.

hey check out my screen shot....that file isn't there.. i can't find the file to add it??? i deleted the MIPS autoupdate file and re-installed the PPC file..still no luck the screenshot loks the same as above. is there something i'm missing or not doing right?? here is the autoupdate file. i still see nowhere to easily edit the keys..unless it's lines 9 and 14 below???? i'm lost!

my bad on the ppc mips switchup, have you checked var/bin and made sure the attributes are 755 if they are not then RQCAM cant generate the keys in your keylist file which it looks like that might be the problem, also did you follow my above instructions about starting with a clean image then installing rqcam 1.14 if you have a version that is prior to rqcam 1.12 then that could be a problem as well. post back your results

yeah i wiped it twice, once for mips and once for ppc..downgraded to an older version of jade and reupgraded to the current edition...i also did the 1.14zip..but i'm looking in the /var/bin and i only have 2 files: wait it does say ATTR 755.

check out the screen shot in post 5 the attr is 644 in /var/keys??? does that mean anything?? still stumped!

Did you download the key file. Because you have to put them into the var/keys/scce folder. Did you get this done?
this is from an older post but i don't think i have key file. here's a shot...and i am using a single eagle DTV LNB now but i have an old dish 500 LNBF PRO that hits 119 and 110, and a few ppl in here say they work and a few don't...i have only one co-ax output for each LNB..i used a sw21 on my old setup with the yellow card and a dish box, but some ppl say the switch is built in, but i was told way back then i needed a 21 switch????? i never tried to just Y the two cables togeher. i have two DTV single LNB's and my old 500 setup as well, i love to hit 4 sats instead of one like now! but i need to get my DB500 to work first i suppose! any thoughts on this matter as well?? would a diseqc switch work for my dual LNBF and the two singles??? i can set those up later after i get the box up and running! anyhoo here's the shot of my /var/scce section...i dont have scce listed in /var/keys section as seen in post 5

I just saw that your on 121, I don't think any thing is left on that sat, all
the channels have been moved to 118.7. You need to get on 119 or 110,
keys are probably not even in the data stream on 121. Setup 119 AA &
110 AB.

well when i removed my old dish 500 , to put the single LNB DTV dish on the pole, i loosened it up i guess...i'ts been raining here for almost 3 days straight so i can't fix it now....i'm showing channel list and program times on 121w there were 2 diff 121's though C band and KU...I''m on KU i think... i can't remember but it looks like there are about 50-70 channels on my list... CW,HBO,some CNN, some ESPN i think.... the channels tell me the time into the program and the next show and length of the next program coming on??? i have everything but a picture....i am going to replant my pole and throw some sand in there so this doesn't happen again. do you knowif the old dish 500 with the PRO dual LNBS(only one coax output per LNB) will work with the DB500 with a diseqc 4-1? since they said i needed a sw21 and it worked that way, i wonder if that LNBS has a built switch?? but i'm more concerned about getting this box up and running.LOL

The channels you are talking about are not on 121, your getting EPG info only. Try loading a blank channel list & scan, you need to adj settings in setup to 121 first. If any channels are still on 121 & N2 you should be able to receive them.
You need to get your D500 back up to get what your looking for, if you have a DP twin LNB then only 1 cable is required to work 1 receiver, it has a built in switch.

i get off work today at 5pm and i'll try to lock on 119w...with my current setup the single LNB 18" DTV dish...

and they told me to use a sw21 which takes the one coax cable from the 119 sat side and the one coax from the 110 sat side and combines them to one that goes to the dish box...i never tried to hook it up any other way....i remember there being a test switch function on the setup menu so you could get signal strength readings from the different sats. so basically two cables connected with SW21 to one receiver.

ok here's where i'm at now.. i repositioned the dish to 119w and autoscanned the transponders, it sync'd and locked..., it has the epg i'm getting Channels 285 ALOCK and NASA that works but, still no picture on other channels! how should the settings be as far as: LNB 0, 22kh OFF or ON? Voltage needs to be on 14 or 18 to lock and sync...which is better...won't lock unless its on 14 or 18???

have you pressed the blue button, then went to softcam setup, then made sure that RQCAM 1.14 is selected as the default softcam, then select save and restart cam, then press exit quickly when you exit out you should see the RQCAM startup screen then it disappears after a couple of seconds, then turn to CNN and wait for it to roll

I would try deleting keylist.txt & let Rqcamd write it, Like hififry said: have you setup softcam, does Rqcamd start screen appear on boot. Your real close, it will lite up soon.

cool dude glad you got it going I have been running a dreambox dm 7000 for 4 years and it has been going strong now it looks like it is about to be reborn as a cardserver as well for nag 3 thanks for posting your results which will help other people.

My pli jade rqcamd 1.26 will not activate. I get channel 100 but no cnn and I do not have Keylist.txt listed. I have tried every thing can some one help please?

This should solve your problem. It would be better to start a new thread

I have a Dream Box 500. All was working well until 3 days ago. Suddenly it froze and all went black.I tried re-booting several times to no avail. What is happening with Dream Box....is it still up and running or am I the only onehaving this problem? Does anyone have a solution for me.....thank you.
