Hello,
Equipment:
Pansat 9200 Version 1 (no built in fan)
Ninja Module
Pros:
1. Blacklist has done a very good job keeping the stream alive and with very little downtime.
2. The HD Picture is amazing
3. Setup of the box is simplistic and the menus are not overly complicated
4. The built in USB makes it very convenient to update bins
Cons:
1. To create a Channel List you must do so by hand via the controller. Very tedious and time consuming compared to Channel Master.
2. Constant freezing/scrambled picture for no apparent reason. Signal Quality is excellent. Problem corrected by Channel Rocking which is very annoying in the middle of sports.movies.
3. Very Expensive
4. I have to channel rock in order for the channel to come in constantly
In conclusion, the picture is amazing however the overall quality is disappointing for the price paid. I am specifically annoyed with the constant channel rocking (every hr or so) required to watch a program. As well as constant channel rocking needed when changing channels.
If anyone has any solutions to my Channel Rocking problem please help. I am thinking of switching to a Viewsat 9000HD or SonicView 8000HD. Could it possible be the ninja board? The freezing issue takes place on sd channels as well.
Any Help appreciated

I have heard that the delay between switching channels is a software problem and/or contributed to the tuner boards especially with the "ninja" tuners. I myself bought this receiver with the "Illuminati" tuner and I don't have the constant need to rock channels, only occasionally having to between SD & HD channels and sometimes between HD channels. Once locked onto a channel, it works well, it switches quickly most of the time. I see this issue with certain channels only although some are on the same TP frequency, I contribute some problems with the broadcast uplink signal.
I do think there is room for improvement but I believe it's needed in the add-on tuner boards, the receiver itself is a nice upgrade to HD. I'm curious to see how it will perform with the BEV HD once we get there.
This receiver may not have needed any fan as it was originally designed but once adding an aftermarket HD tuner board, it seems neccessary, at least to increase the longevity of the components, the increased heat may or not have an effect on performance. It depends on how the user has it setup in regards to cabinet enclosures and location to other A/V components, room temperature also has an effect on the operating temperature, so many things should be considered. I added two small 40mm x 10mm chipset fans powered by an external 12VDC power adaptor that plugs into a jack/plug I added to the rear panel. The temperature is considerably lower when running the fans.

Hi,
I am extremely new to this. One of my problems is what you mentioned above - the constant freezing. What is channel rocking!?! Your assistance is greatly appreciated!

channel rocking is changing channels up and down to your channel to get it to stop freezing works but got rid of mine and bought a sonicview8000 which has its own perks like sound issues on hd

The cons you describe are the 'user setup' variety and not the irds problem. Why are you creating "channel lists" when only DN is working at this time? Simply use the echostar package from the sat list and every channel is in dish order. Channel lists are useless with all the channel movement (changing transponders) that Dish is implementing, Because of this, it's a good idea to rescan every once in a while...and then save your results in the ch_data folder on the USB stick. I think most of your problems are caused by the ninja board (should have gotten the approved Illuminati). I've had a 9300 since they came out and have no problems with it other than it running hot. An internal or external fan will correct this problem.

The Illuminati board is a 8spk board that was the first one to be recomended for the 9200 as well as the 9000 pansats.
