I got a CW-4000HD box and cannot get the hard drive to install. When I try to install it within captivework's software, I get this message once the machine boots back up:
A drive was found on your system but something is wrong. The original flash and DVD drive /dev/hdb not found: error
I have tried about everything and I keep on getting that message. I am trying to install a 500 gig SATA Western Digital hard drive model WD5000AAKS.
I checked the bios and it detects the flash drive, DVD drive, and my hard drive. I just do not understand why this is not working. Can someone please let me know what I am doing wrong or help me fix this issue?

the setup on a 3000hd was a breeze.. check your jumper settings - the captiveworks forum is good - as long as you stay away from couple of as.es who think they are naive -while working for a company that lives off of piracy..
i suppose you are already following this link

I already figured it out. It seems that the issue is just not me but it is in fact the software that comes on the CW-4000HD. The software that comes with it has an issue seeing the dvd drive, so it just stops. What another person had to do was restore his machine to the latest restore iso that they have. It comes with version 11 I think, but just doing an upgrade to 15 R2 is not enough. You have to get the restore iso and restore the machine to that iso.
This is a known issue with the CW-4000HD that is coming out of the factories right now, so it may not be a bad idea for the mods to sticky this post since this issue will happen to other people with this new machine.
By the way, this box only supports SATA drives for storage drives, so there are no jumpers to set. And yes, like you just said, a couple of the mods on that site do not have a clue. One of them thought he knew it all like you say and accused me of unhooking a dvd drive when I even stated that it is detected in the bios.

you must have your 500 hdd hooked up to sata1 or it will not work
I had the same problem, solved it by putting sata cable on the connecter closest to the left backside of board. I think that is #1 connection.
