NitroDog 10-22-2008, 05:09 AM The Captive works series 700 keeps rebooting Does anyone know how to fix this please help :no::no::no::no::no::no Mine has a similar problem also...one of the site advertisers has told me thru e-mail that they are seeing a lot of inquiries for warranty repairs in the last few weeks...says they are directly related to third party software causing the damage.Mine is an original not a clone.I think the coders need to look at this and address the problem.I have tried puttting the factory s/w back on it several times all to no avail..... Symptoms are severe video degradation..even the menu degrading..then it goes into a reboot loop......shutting it off for awhile seemed to help at first...but then it just gets worse and continues to reboot....some have suggested reverting back to earlier bins might clear out the problem...but in my case that didn't help either.....guess they're pooched....>( Put it on the shelf and hope someone ( maybe the coders ) can figure out what's causing this. NitroDog 10-22-2008, 04:05 PM OK after loading the factory file back on it several times and a host of defaults on the settings.....it sat disconnected for a few days,I hooked it back up and the box finally stopped rebooting....and let me get to the menu......I then loaded the 1.83 file on it and scanned sats. The box seemed OK after the load of 1.83....so I proceeded to load the 1.93 serial file on it.It loaded OK and scanned sats OK.....It has been running now for about an hour and seems OK.So now I am not sure what the actual cause of the problem was.....guess even tho the box said success after the loading of the 1.93 file when it came out....it must have been a corrupted load...I guess time will tell. But it is working right now. So I guess the learning part of this is...Just because the stb gives you the "Success" after loading a file to it...IT still could be a corrupted load. Hope this helps someone. sp0iler 10-22-2008, 04:33 PM OK after loading the factory file back on it several times and a host of defaults on the settings.....it sat disconnected for a few days,I hooked it back up and the box finally stopped rebooting....and let me get to the menu......I then loaded the 1.83 file on it and scanned sats. Let the box run for a day or more.Verify its got plenty of air to breath.Might have been a heat issue. When you let it sit and then it started working again has me suspicious. Could be any number of reasons for the problem. It is strange that many are having the issue though. Post again if it starts having the same problem. Happy testing, Sp0iler:beer: Yes sir the heat problem is what I was suspecting also.....but it sits by itself not on top of anything out in the open. After it coming back from the rebooting problem and leaving it unplugged for a few days...I am wondering if it was some capacitors maybe in the power supply section of the board and sitting off for awhile allowed them to finally discharge....It has run overnite so far with no problems detected yet.....time will tell I guess... sp0iler 10-23-2008, 05:45 AM Yes sir the heat problem is what I was suspecting also.....but it sits by itself not on top of anything out in the open. After it coming back from the rebooting problem and leaving it unplugged for a few days...I am wondering if it was some capacitors maybe in the power supply section of the board and sitting off for awhile allowed them to finally discharge....It has run overnite so far with no problems detected yet.....time will tell I guess... Yup....agreed. I thought about Caps too. Glad your still viewing with no problems. Sp0iler:beer: Alibabba 02-03-2009, 05:01 PM Hi guys, I thought I would bump this issue back to the top. I have a problem like this and ran down this thread. My 700's screen went blue for weeks and then into the rebooting mode. I let it stay unplugged for a couple of days but I as of yet had any success with it. I tried to load the factory bin with the serial cable but that doesn't work either. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate them! Thanks a bunch.........Alibabba |
