The 8psk module allows for decrytion of Dishnet HD channels...if you have a new Captain 8000HD and you didnt install the module then it doesnt have it. You will need to buy the module specific to your receiver.

Thanks! Is there a specific 8PSK module for the Captain 8000HD or can I buy any specific one on the market and install it on my C8000HD?

I moved this to the Captain forums. Someone here will be able to assist. I dont own one of these receivers but do know that some HD receivers take receiver specific modules.

hi,i think the captain is a mpeg2 rec,,to get dishnet hd you need a mpeg 4 rec.,sonicview & viewsat have rec. with mpeg4 capabilities, read as much as possible on the subject as there is a fair amount of funds involved, luck.

Yes the Captain is a Mpeg 2 receiver only. It will not allow to use an 8psk module. The Sonic View 8000, Viewsat 9000, Pansat 9200, the soon to be released Conaxsat Carbon and Sonicview 360 are some of the receivers that allow you to use an 8psk module.

Im pretty sure that the 360 model's are NOT HD nor will they use an 8psk module the 8000 is Sonicview's HD unit that use's the module.

the sv 360 is a dual tuner receiver and you are correct it is not a hd receiver.the captain hd receivers still can be used for bev 82 to pull in some hd channels that are 720 resolution without the need for a module

The 8000 was released almost a year after announcement of HD. Time frames are estimates on when a receiver will be landed in north america. The time frames are usually way off.
