Can anyone help on this? At first, I could read the TSOPs and
eeprom. For some reason (I was trying older versions of Jkeys
because Jkeys was not erasing TSOPs) the IRD locked up. The
green power led comes on solid and the red record led is on
solid. Jkeys 2.01 reports that it can not do DCU operations. It
also gets FFFFFFFFs for Jtag info.
Can this be a software problem or does it indicate some
kind of component failure or the STi CPU?
I could really stop wasting time if the IRD is dead and maybe
try to get it repaired.

corrupt firmware bro, i had hel getting mine back up same problems i just kept poking at it and unplugging until it worked.. try this if you can erase erase at sa54 this will remove the ecm then just put in stream and let take update, also it took me a few hours to get update dont know why but it did..

the 501 sometimes requires a rapid pressing of the ok button after powerup to get in the eprom and flash modes less then 1 second. if your system is showing the ffff as device type select the correct device and program the eprom with your backup and then the flash chips (both). then you should be back up and watching TV.
