I've been to a couple of website selling coolsat 6100 for $99 or $100; saying clearance sale all must go! Why are they selling cs 6100 so cheap? Do they know something we don't know like they will not be making them anymore, since they already have cs 7000, 7100, 8000, 8100? I'm thinking of buying one since it's alot cheaper than the original price, but I don't want to buy it and then in a couple of months they stop making bins for it because they discontinue it like the 4000, 5000, and 6000. Does anyone have any information on this?

There is no information on the Coolsat homepage that there is any inclination of the 6100 model being discontinued.

I think it may be because of the slipping support for their boxes and sales had dropped, I personally don't think they have been discontinued just trying to keep sales going with Coolsat period

Judging from what I read, I think U will find those $99 boxes to be cheap Chinese clones, which will no doubt cause CS to discontinue that model,if they follow their marketing strategy history. IMHO

Google up this outfit, that sells nothing but cheap Chinese Clones : SHENZHEN VICTORY DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY CO.,LTD. You will find lots of clones there , including the 6100 Private.

If you want the real thing and not a cheap clone from China, buy only from authorized dealers like the sponsors of this site. A few bucks more will give you the peace of mind that it will work when you get it or at least be promptly replaced if you have problems with it.

6100 is not discontinued yet..It was to supposed to have a harder chip to clone as well as the 7100 and 8100. So much for that... maybe?

I would have a hard time recommending anyone starting out with a coolsat at this stage..I started out with coolsats and they were the cats ass for a time..but things change fast in this hobby.

Look elsewhere now I would say.:)

I would guess that with all the customers Coolsat has lost due to extremely poor (bin) support, they have an overstock of the receivers. Better to cut the price and get rid of them to (unhappy) future customers than try to sell the boxes at the old prices. A lot of people I know will NEVER buy another Coolsat. Others are extremely pleased with their purchase. YMMV...

I highly doubt that you will be loosing support for your 6100. After all they just put out the dongle for the 6100 to 8100, excluding the 7000. There are a lot of units that are dropping their prices not only CS. CW, SV and VS and Captain all have great deals on some of their models. Hey you can even pick up a nfusion for under $200 now. You just need to check around. Buy from site sponsers. I would tend to believe that the upcoming card swap and nag3 has more to do with the deals you can find on some boxes. I get together with a few folks and buy a case, usually saves $20 or $30 bucks a unit they will usually ship for free.
JMHO

in 2009 all tv must go digital is this going to affect any of the fta boxes?.

NO it will not. Almost all you channels are digital now. Nothing to fret about. More worries with nag3 and that may only set us back a little. There is talk that they have already cracked nag3 in Europe, where it has been in place for some time.

I know NAG3 is a card. But in which way nag3 will it affect the FTA receiver?.And, what its the time frame that this nag3 change its going to take place?.

Coolsat 6100 is not discontined, but you will have to buy a $90 dongle( IKS device) before too long. Many sites and some mods have hinted that coolsat is moving full force to iks system only, meaning no direct download of bins from the websites.

The retail price of the cs6100 units is about $100. Made in Korea. Check out auction sites.

But Coolsat 7000 and CS 8000 are already discontinued( many users have had it less than a year). But authorized dealers still have a very LARGE stock of them to sell.

If you want Coolsat Only: Due to current stir with support issues with cs, there are many good deals to be found on newer models but you're taking a chance.
Again this is only if you have to have a coolsat then look at used coolsat 7k,71k,8k) at auction sites going for a fraction of what their original price.

4,5,6000 make up coolsat clients they have just come up with a smoke and mirror of getting some cash out of us suckers, opps clients before they the doors, they have a huge stock and no suckers, opps clients to buy them as people are leaving in masses i dont think that they will bearound after 2009 before you invest wait for 4,5,6000 to be cloned as coolsat is very unreliable at the moment
