I don't know if just adding an eSATA drive will give me the PVR function or not. I saw one of the other sites claiming that with vip subscription, they have the PVR function up and running for the 9200HD. Anybody?

Oh! Don't worry. I'm not about to jump onto one of those VIP support sites. I did, however, buy an eSATA 500GB HD. I figured I may as well be ready whenever BL gets the PVR software ready.

I've gotten my eSATA drive but haven't formatted it as yet. I'm not so sure the 9200HD shouldn't be the source of the format or not. Has anyone seen anything on it? I understand that the PVR function is just around the corner.

What "Brand" is your eSATA drive, macg??

That will be my next purchase and I see a lot of options!

They do make enclosures with multiple interfaces (USB, FireWire, eSATA)??

you should never have to pay any site for support for a fta receiver.contribute money or time to a site is one thing, paying is another

Being impatient, I sent off an email to pansatusa and the reply,

"Factory engineer now trying to fix several major bugs asap. Hope to finish within couple weeks."

Anyone heard that one before......

Dr. Bob,

Sorry I didn't respond as to the drive i bought but my 9200 has been working so well I haven't looked at the forums for more than a month. I just spotted the question but I'm at work. I'll take a look when I go home for lunch and report back to you. It's been long enough that I can't remember what I bought.

No problem GuitarMan!

Now that we have the PVR code for the 9200, I would still be interested in what kind of drive (and what size maximum) can be used on the eSata port.

Anybody tried out the PVR function on the 9200 yet??

Dr. Bob,

I hooked up my 500GB eSATA external drive made by Mobile Disk that I purchased on ebay to the 9200HD via the eSata cable and turned it on. Then I turned on the 9200HD. I looked forever on the remote and finally found the HDD button. I'd looked before and hadn't ever seen it. I got into the HDD menu and selected Format. After putting in the password it quickly said HDD Formatting. After that there wasn't any indication that anything was happening. So I pushed the format button again and after punching the password it said to please wait, the HDD was formatting. So I guess it's working. I wonder what would have happened if I'd formatted it with the computer.

It never did say that the drive had been successfully formatted but, after 15 minutes, I exited and went to channel 540 and recorded a minute, hit stop, went back to HDD and played the selection successfully. In HD!

Now, I have recorded several HD PPVs and with the exception of one, "PS I Love You", it seems to work great. I'll be glad when we can pre-set a show to be recorded. Right now that program-timer area is grayed out.

Cool! I guess I'm going shopping...

Do you think it would mind having a 1TB drive?

Thanks for the info, MacG.

I dunno, but I don't see why not.
