I dont know if you have decided on an hd receiver yet,but here is a little information. While some people will swear by there favorite brand,most hd boxes are pretty good.The cost will run about 400 for the box and about 150 for the 8psk mod.If you are receiving signal from a northern provider you do not currently need the 8psk mod to receive hd programing.But from rumors that Ive herd I would make sure to get one that can be updated with the mod. for future hd reception. For myself I am currently testing a pansat 9000 and a viewsat 9000.Both units do well even though the pansat cannot be updated with the 8psk mod.Both are easy to setup and have great support.Im running both units through a 1000.2 dish aimed at 119,110 an 129. Both load off the usb port.The pansat loads in about 1 minute but the viewsat takes almost 5.The trade off is that the viewsat will give you a full week epg.Wheras the pansat gets only about 24 hours.For the most part it boils down to what you want to pay.where you live,what you are trying to achive as an end product,and most of all how familiar you are with fta. I would suggest that you read all about what you think you want than ask questions in the forum about what others know about it.Please give as much info as possible when asking a question,It helps to solve problems and give the correct info the first time.
