Well, I prefer to have receiver with no fan, Sonicview has it because of necessity unfortunately to keep it cool is not a goal: the goal to keep it working
You do like your Sonicview, it's great. What you can tell about recording and time shifting functions? How great are they? I am afraid that they are not so great just yet. I wish Sonicview corrected all this.
Talking about new comers, Pansat has very nice feature: ability to work with MPEG4. That can be a key in a close (well, not sure how close) future.

Hi!
i am glad you responded to this since my goal now it is to buy me a pansat 9200 but i want some information even thou... i am going buy it sometime next week anyway..

I have a lacie 250 hard drive which i have not install it to the sonicview but i will be doing that tomorrow to see if there is a problem with recording. So i can not say anything about it. i JUST hope it works fine. I know that there is some hard drive that will not work properly with sonicview and maybe other hd receivers . I will let you know how it goes.

How the the quality of picture with pansat hd ?

thanks for responding

Some say that SV8K has MPEG4 support despite it is not in specification.
In that case I prefer SV, cause it support is one of the best. And what is FTA receiver with bad support?
Also, PVR functions now is became better and better, while Pansat don't have it yet.

Caveman,
How is your Pansat 9200HD doing? Any other equipment, like an adapter, needed to view HD coming from USA satellites?
Please let me know bcuz i am in a market for FTA receiver.

I have a Coolsat 8000 HD and it has great picture & audio. It only works for BEV HD channels which has a wide selection of HD channels and of course all Sd channels.. The Coolsat is aslo good for the true FTA channels and has real time satelite identification. (tells you which satelite you are pointing at).
It is a great receiver but I would not recommend it for Dish hd reception. ( don't think it can do Dn unless you add a module)
