hello. am new to fta and this is my first box. i am currently using a Dish 500 with my Coolsat 6100 and everything works fine (so far). one of my friends gave me a Dish 1000 Pro, can i use this dish with my reciever and is there any advantage instead of the 500?

also, this box was programed by somebody else so am not sure what software to use (when i need to update) and if i can use my Mac or do i need a PC? all i know is it was thru a USB memory stick.

so if somebody can point me in the right direction it would be of great help, like i said am a newbie:p
