Here is a link to the loader, bin file and instructions. The bin isn't the latest, try using it anyway, everything works but the autoroll . If you want to use the loader and instructions from here and download the latest bin from 7/10/07.

be sure to use a null serial cable, not a straight cable.

On your 'puter, click "Start", Control Panel, System, Hardware, then click on the "+" that's next to the "Comm Ports" entry. Look for what Comm Port your cable is on, then configure your loader to the same port. You'll be good to go.!

done that already and it still does not write bin. i have tried the serial cable that i used for doing directv cards years ago and a usb to serial. neither will write to the mercury II receiver.

It needs to be loaded with a 'null modem cable' ( as Vicky 71 stated above) Mine came with one in the box, but should be easy to find one.

so the same serial cable i used for doing directv cards with my old loader will not work for programming the mercury II?

Also I have read that alot of the usb-serial adaptors don't work and some do. And did you unzip the files before trying to load?.. easy to forget that step sometimes.

I have no idea what cable that used.. but the merc ll will only load with a null modem cable- it usually says it on each of the plug ends.

yes they are unziped. but my question is, is the serial cable we used for programming cards not a null modem cable?

Sorry, I have no idea, that was before my time..some one else may know. Does it say it on the plug ends?

finally got it to load. im not sure what the problem was. i did it the same everytime except i think i tried a different bin the last time. maybe only certain bins will take with certain models?
